Research resultsCreativity is multivariate, and thus no single test addresses all of its aspects. In a study conducted in the Fall of 1994, individuals participated in a pretest/posttest control group design experiment. Participants were given two creativity tests, the Barron Welsh Art Scale, and the Alternate Uses test, at the beginning and again at the end of the study. These two tests measure, respectively, Originence (original thinking), and Divergent Thought production. The Barron-Welsh Art Scale has been used for over forty years to measure creative ability in many settings and is considered to have high test/re-test stability. The Alternate Uses is equally well-documented as an effective means to measure some aspects of creativity. After taking the baseline test, participants used Vantage Quest once a day for two weeks. At the end of this period, they took alternate forms of these same tests. The composite raw scores demonstrated dramatic improvements for most
participants.
These results are exceptionally encouraging for such a limited study period. Naturally, these results require further statistical analysis before being considered substantial. A follow-up study was conducted using Biofeedback equipment at the Mennenger Clinic in Topeka, KS using both first time and experienced users of Vantage Quest. EEG reading were recorded while participants listened to VQ's Harmonic Matrix. Participants reported vivid imagery and their EEG recordings demonstrated a concurrent shift in brain wave patterning. The initial focus of Vantage Quest's research was on creativity enhancement. Along the way various other phenomena have been reported while listening, including temperature changes in the body, pain reduction, feelings of energy streaming, female sexual orgasm, spontaneous memory recall, lucid dreams, and psychological and spiritual insights. Other applications and research are now indicated. The study has continued informally with several hundred people using
the tape and reporting their experiences directly to Carlisle Bergquist. |
